Graphical Engineering

Processing workshop at the Department of Graphic Design, Vilnius Academy of Art
led by Daniel Köhler
2014.

Graphics, Drawings, Posters or any other form of layout normally points towards another entity. A Graphic stays always a representation of something else. But what if a Graphic itself resembles a real object? This workshop will challenge Graphic Designers to design graphics as real objects. We will use the software package Processing to introduce Object-Oriented-Design-Techniques: Objects, Indirect Causation, Inheritance, Polymorphism. Working with graphical operations on graphical elements, we will draw Points, Shapes, Cells, Relations, Rythms, Systems, Simulations in 2D and 3D as print, movie and model.
