research collaborationslab-eds takes commissions where its research is the answer. Engagements run as research collaborations, through the university's sponsored-research office where appropriate, and in formats short enough to finish: an audit, a workshop, an atlas.
Grounding audit written audit · four to six weeks | An AI-assisted design proposal, a generated massing, a material claim, or a planning tool is checked against what can be verified: building code, structure and physics, embodied carbon, supply chain. The result is a sourced written audit that states what holds, what fails, and what could not be checked. The method is the one behind the Synthetic Types Atlas, where every case study was verified against forty to sixty sources and the pipeline caught its own errors. |

Materials-discovery workshop two days, in the workshop · schools, manufacturers, material libraries | From an AI-predicted compound to a sample plate in two days: participants select candidates from the open Generative Matter database, follow the synthesis protocols with kilns, molds, and sunlight, and document what forms and what does not. The format was developed with students at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart in 2026 and rests on the ACADIA 2025 Vanguard Paper. |
Commissioned atlases and exhibitions atlas, wall, dataset, or exhibition · museums, cities, institutions | An atlas that shows what a generative model believes about a place, a city, or a building type, produced as a dataset, a browsable explorer, and a printed or exhibited wall. Latent Earth was commissioned by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum for its permanent collection; WanderYards is in the collection of the Centre Pompidou. |
Relational and circular design studies studio, feasibility study, or workshop · led by Rasa Navasaityte | Feasibility studies and design research for shared living and circular urban spaces in existing building stock: vertical farming, water and energy cycles, ecological infrastructure composed between the parts of a building. The method comes from the studios Living with Trees and Circular Hubs and from the ARID LOGICS workshop at Taubman College. |
